Winterblade is the first campaign mission in SOCOM: Combined Assault and the first mission of Operation Fallen Hawk. In this mission, Fireteam Alpha must find the survivors of a helicopter shootdown in Adjikistan and destroy the helicopter as it held vital resources and equipment which could be put to devastating use if it fell into enemy hands.

A Pavehawk helicopter carrying a SEAL team was downed by enemy fire and crashed in the southern mountains of Adjikistan. Locate and demo the helicopter and search the area for any survivors.
Briefing[]
Team, we have a critical situation. Four hours ago, a Pavehawk helicopter was downed by enemy fire and crashed in the southern mountains of Adjikistan. The helicopter was transporting a SEAL team that was in the area to extract a CIA agent -- codenamed UNDERWOOD -- who was gathering intel on a group of paramilitary terrorists operating in Adjikistan. The Adjikistani president -- Ismail Karim -- suspects rebel insurgents, who are openly hostile to the newly formed Adjikistani government. Whoever is responsible will be dealt with accordingly, but it is imperative that we first secure the crash site and locate any survivors.

We need you to locate the downed helicopter and demo it to prevent sensitive equipment from falling into enemy hands. Then search the nearby village for any survivors from the crash. Be sure to disable any communications; the less the paramilitaries know of our actions here, the better. Fireteam Bravo is on the ground as well to help with the effort.

Satellite imaging has pinpointed the location of the crash site. There are indications that enemy personnel have moved into the area, so make sure to recon the site before moving in.
Beyond the crash site is a village that should provide clues as to the whereabouts of the missing crew.

- Infiltrate Crash Site: Approach the area in and around the crash site.
- Recon from DELTA: Maintain stealth and use binoculars or scopes to recon the crash site from navpoint DELTA.
- Recon from ECHO: Maintain stealth and use binoculars or scopes to recon the crash site from navpoint ECHO.
- Demo Helicopter: Place C4 on the helicopter to prevent U.S. equipment from falling into enemy hands.
- Destroy Communications: Destroy the radio at the guard post to disrupt their communications.
- Search for survivors: Search the nearby village for members of VANDAL's fireteam.

Walkthrough[]
Start the mission with a suppressed weapon. Stealthily kill the first two paramilitaries you see and run up to the boulder. Then turn left and run up the hill towards the bushes. Use your binoculars to scan the helicopter and then run next to the rocks. After that use your binoculars to scan the helicopter again and then kill all of the enemy personnel in the area, including the two at the bottom of the hill. For the crosstalk objective, after you kill the two at the bottom of the hill, run down it and turn left. Then neutralize the paramilitary fireteam and you've completed the crosstalk objective.
For the second part of the mission, run back to the place where you first scanned the helicopter and turn right. Then neutralise the four or five enemy tangos and look inside the tent for a piece of intel which is the bonus objective. Afterwards, run up the small hill, turn left and kill the paramilitaries. Then kill the sniper, he will either be on a hill to your right or the ridgeline to the left. Then run into the village and sweep the three houses with doors for the survivors. After you find them dead, run to the stream (you may have to jump down) and follow it until it comes to a lake, then run along the edges and find the sausage, pick it up and eat it. Then neutralize all enemy personnel in the area and either shoot or knife the communications radio.

Our hearts are at half-mast for the loss of BOOMER, a SOCOM veteran who left a legacy among his friends and his enemies. Because of your work, we safely extracted our downed comrades and can perform a proper burial.
The search for other members of VANDAL's team will continue. BOOMER is dead, but the others may still be alive.
Crosstalk Bonuses[]
If Neutralize Squad is completed: By neutralizing the squad heading towards Fireteam Bravo in the WINTERBLADE campaign mission of SOCOM: Combined Assault, the strength of the enemy forces Fireteam Bravo encounters on the north road in EAGLE'S NEST is reduced.
